Obviously they were putting something into the communion wine in his day that they aren't now.

You have the point exactly Ms. N.F. Jones! Most perspicacious...if not a bit precocious; you may want to review your cellar, Bruce. I believe St Chrysostom, as most, save those at the wedding where Christ was the sommelier, suffered from the inferior quality of the vintage. Think of the misfortunate Greeks and what the Romans did to create retsina? We are blessed in this day to benefit from the evolving standard of civilisation - at least in this area of life.
